Code of Ethics for Project Managers

Individuals engaged in project management, through the pursuit of their professional goals, influence the quality of life for all people in our society.
Therefore, it is essential that those representing the project management profession perform their duties in an ethical manner, ensuring the trust and confidence of team members, colleagues, employees, employers, clients, and the broader public are earned and maintained.

Individuals engaged in project management are obligated to act in accordance with the highest personal and professional ethical standards and to:

Take responsibility for their actions;

Undertake projects only when they possess the necessary qualifications through education or experience;

Enhance their professional skills in line with current knowledge and remain aware of the need for continuous learning and personal development;

Uphold the prestige of the profession by performing their duties in a dignified and exemplary manner;

Abide by the code of ethics and encourage colleagues and team members to do the same;

Support the professional community through active participation and promote such involvement among colleagues and collaborators;

Comply with the laws of the country in which the work is being performed.

Individuals engaged in project management are obligated in their work to:

Manage the project with the goal of promoting maximum efficiency while striving to minimize costs;

Apply the most advanced tools and techniques in Project Management to ensure the achievement of project goals related to quality, cost, and time in accordance with the project plan;

Treat all team members, colleagues, and collaborators fairly, regardless of race, religion, gender, personal and cultural preferences, age, or nationality;

Provide appropriate working conditions for all project team members;
Evaluate work fairly, listen impartially to other viewpoints, and properly acknowledge the contributions of others;

Support the professional development of project team members, colleagues, and collaborators.

In relationships with employers and clients, individuals engaged in project management are obligated to:

Act as loyal representatives of their employers and clients in all matters entrusted to them, whether professional or commercial in nature;

Maintain confidentiality regarding any business information or technical processes of the employer or client during employment and after its termination, until such information becomes publicly available;

Disclose to their employers, clients, professional organizations, or public institutions any circumstances that could lead to a conflict of interest;

Avoid any activity that could be perceived as or give the appearance of corruption, and openly oppose such behavior;

Present the project’s quality, cost, and timeline honestly and realistically.

In fulfilling their duties toward society, individuals engaged in project management are obligated to:

Protect the safety, health, and well-being of society, and speak out openly against any violations of these values;

Strive to promote awareness and knowledge of Project Management, ensuring that the profession of Project Manager and its achievements are recognized and valued.
